The event is being supported by the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association (COPA) Flight 26 based at the Region of Waterloo International Airport and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wwfc.ca\">Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre<\/a>. Parking at the airport is free for the first 90 minutes and then $4.00 per hour thereafter.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.copaflight26.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/YKFmap.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Who is eligible?<\/strong><br \/>\nAll children between the ages of eight and seventeen are invited to participate in the COPA for Kids Flight.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is involved?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When you register online you will be able to select a time for your child to arrive at the Region of Waterloo International Airport. COPA Flight 26 will have a registration areas set up in the main paid parking lot located in front of the Runway\u2019s Caf\u00e9 and the Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre.<\/p>\n<p>After confirming your child\u2019s registration and having a parent or guardian sign the waiver form, your child will be given a brief orientation on safety.<\/p>\n<p>Once a plane is available, children will be escorted onto the apron to meet with the children\u2019s&#8217; pilot. \u00a0Pictures will be taken of the children and pilot in front of the plane (if a photography waiver is signed).\u3000 Volunteers and the pilot will ensure that the children are safely loaded into the plane and seat belts securely fastened.<\/p>\n<p>The flight will be for 15 to 20 minutes either over Guelph or Cambridge depending on the active runway in use at the time of the flight. Once the plane has landed, taxied back to the apron and the engine shut off; the children will be assisted by a volunteer to disembark, certificates will be given to them by the pilot and then they will be escorted back to the registration area. However, an airport is not a playground. Listen and follow instructions given by volunteers and your pilot and follow these simple rules when around or in a small plane<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Stay away from the propeller;<\/li>\n<li>Listen carefully for instructions on entering and exiting the airplane;<\/li>\n<li>Do not touch any part of an airplane without the pilot\u2019s permission; and<\/li>\n<li>Stay with your pilot or volunteer at all times when on the apron.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>What if the weather is not good enough to fly?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>We will cancel flights either in the morning, afternoon or all day if the weather is not safe for flying (e.g. low clouds or poor visibility). \u00a0Check our this website before the event to ensure the Flight is still on.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How do I sign up?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The next event will be on June 18, 2016. \u00a0Online registration will open up in April 2016.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our next COPA for Kids Flight will be on Saturday, June 18, 2016 \u00a0 A COPA for Kids Flight is an opportunity for children between the ages of 8 through 17 to experience flying in a small plane.
